Timey Wimey Fest: Week 1 Day 4
↳Favorite Side Character {Rory Williams}

so I saw more Moffat era hate on my dash (oh goodie) specifically that the companions ‘are not relate-able’.
Rose Tyler is called the most relate-able companion of the New Era. She was smart and kind with a bit of a nutty family (who doesn’t have a nutty family?), working a job she didn’t really enjoy. She later ended up working at an organization to save the world.
Martha Jones had a huge and very nutty family that she was typically constantly trying to fix the arguments of. She was smart and clever, and was working on her way to become a doctor. She later joined UNIT and even maybe Torchwood.
Donna Noble was a woman who didn’t believe in herself nearly enough as she should because of all the times she was told she was stupid. She wasn’t afraid of saying what she thought, and was the best temp in Chiswick. She later lost her memory, but she gained confidence and ended up being happily married.
Amy Pond went from a girl who believed in something no one else did, and grew up having everyone tell her she was crazy, who had a family who didn’t seem to care all that much about her. After a few jobs, she ended up a writer, opened her own publishing company and became a beloved authoress.
Rory Williams went from the boy who waited for the girl of his dreams, the dorky and awkward nurse who was almost always left in the shadow of other men, but grew out of that shadow, ended up with the girl of his dreams and the job of his dreams: a nurse, therefore helping others.
Clara Oswald grew up with two loving parents, lost her mother when she was sixteen, graduated College and wanted to go travelling, but stayed because a family friend needed her help. She became a nanny, and later a teacher.
All the companions are relate-able somehow, maybe not to you, but to others.
Rose absorbed the Time Vortex to save the Doctor and Jack, Martha walked the Earth, Donna became a half-time lord and helped stop Davros, Amy brought the Doctor and Rory and her family back into existence through memory, Rory waited two thousand years for the love of his life, and Clara sacrificed herself to save the Doctor.
